CAMP FLOG GNAW GOT CANCELLED, SO WE THREW A MASSIVE GIVEAWAY!

Updated: 2 days ago

When news broke that Camp Flog Gnaw was cancelled and pushed to the following weekend, a wave of disappointment hit thousands of fans who had already touched down in Los Angeles just houts beforehand. People arrived from across the country expecting two days of music, culture, and connection and instead found themselves stranded in the rain with nowhere to go.

Rather than let the weekend fade into frustration, we partnered with @JaredMuros to put together a spontaneous pop-up activation on Sunday, 11/16 — an event built from nothing but urgency, community spirit, and a determination to salvage something meaningful from the chaos. With only 24 hours to prepare, we pulled together a 2 hour gathering designed to give festival-goers a place to regroup and celebrate the culture they came here for.

What unfolded was something special. Throughout the afternoon, attendees drifted in steadily, filling the space with the same energy and curiosity you’d normally expect at the festival grounds. Clothing brands set up impromptu activations, handing out hundreds of free pieces that quickly became the badge of the day. Interactive moments emerged organically as people explored, created, and connected with one another, turning what could have been a lost weekend into a moment of community-making.

For us, stepping in felt natural. Our work through Crisis Magazine has always centered on producing events that bring people together, whether at pre-festival gatherings, art shows, or pop-ups that become cultural flashpoints. We’ve seen firsthand how powerful these moments can be. Our LA Weekly–covered event in 2023 proved that when the community wants something, we know how to build it quickly, authentically, and at scale.

This weekend’s last-minute activation carried that same DNA. Despite the rain, despite the cancellations, despite the scramble, the event became a bright spot in an otherwise dark and confusing afternoon for thousands of fans. What started as an unexpected setback transformed into a story worth remembering a reminder that culture doesn’t wait for perfect conditions, and the community around it will always find a way.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and helped turn a cancelled festival weekend into something unforgettable. If you were there, you experienced a bit of history in motion. If you missed it, don’t worry! There’s more coming.
